This is my first draft for my design on the NOFX album poster. After having it on my wall and getting some feed back I will be making a few changes. All the critique were from friends outside of class but were very good observations. I will be changing up some of the colors and and be adding some new details.
These were my first 3 initial ideas for a postesr. I was liking the in the middle one. It would be for the group Gang Starr. The 2 MCs (Guru and DJ Premier) on the bottom with Guru holding a copy of their logo, floating in his hands. But after talking to Claire, Robyn and Lananh… we all kinda agreed that think the first one would be better to do based on the project being vector graphics and not photographic. That one is going to be a NOFX poster. NOFX is a punk band that is anti establishment, government, corporations, aka the man… So I wanted to do a poster that would incorporate that idea. It is going to be based off the game of space invaders… there will be a row of corporate business men on top with the band name on the bottom as the shields, then the band as the actual ship on the bottom moving around shooting up at the men coming down on them. I am going to play with the bullets coming out possibly being an album name… but we’ll see once I get the basic idea layed out in AI, then play with coloring and the other text.
The first images is the redone after getting some comments. The changes I made was adding another line of text so there was an even number of lines to split up on top and bottom of the middle line, Adjusted the gradient so the faded section in the middle was a better transition, and finally I removed some of the border dead space around the edges.
My first project turned into a video as a 9/11 memorial video. I choose to do this based on the timing of the project being in the month of September and because 9/11 is my birthday and it is a day that will never be forgotten in US history. My video was to be simple and elegant with a vocal version of the national anthem and the American Flag waving in the back ground. I wanted to use different angles of the flag with the final ending with a bright sun behind the waving flag.
